Role                :           WebSphere Administrator

Duration        :            6+ Months

Description    :            Charlotte, NC

Position Responsibilities: 


  • Experience in Administration, Maintenance, Deployment, Integration including Installation and Configuration of Application Server (WAS/WPS) v8.x, Web Server & Siteminder on various UNIX platforms (Solaris/AIX/Linux) 
  • Drive the WAS/WPS/SSO/SSL Platform and High available implementation (cluster and load balancing) 
  • Expert level defining and modifying Websphere configuration such as datasources, listener ports, transports, Name Space Bindings, Websphere Plugin, Java2 Connection artifacts as per testing requirements. 
  • Solid understanding Websphere MQ, configuring, changing listener ports and defining MQ items and troubleshooting application flow from Websphere to MQ and back to Websphere 
  • Strong technical knowledge includes fail-over support, workload management (WLM) performance tuning, complex secure sockets layer (SSL) configuration 
  • Participate in incident management and problem management discussions and support incident manager in submitting root cause analysis reports and to resolve application issues 
  • Partner with other Engineering, Architects, and other teams in validating installation packages, installation guides, developing build specifications and performance tuning areas 
  • Application components and Infrastructure Components. 
  • Following established processes and improving process/procedures to meet new application needs in various areas – maintain standards, monitoring, patch management, scheduling support team, and supporting change management 
  • Working with various multiple application teams, supporting scheduling, preparing management reports with operation metrics, and implementing security policies. 
  • Actively provide solutions to team for ongoing implementation and production issues and maintain documents. 
  • Should be prepared to work extra hours (including weekends) on an as needed basis with relatively short notice to meet deliverables 
  • Work with onsite and offsite team to support various applications across multiple regions/countries. 
Good to have: 
  • Little background of administration on zWebshere (WAS/WPS) 
  • Understanding ITCAM monitoring statistics for performance tuning and troubleshooting analysis.
